STONE APPLICATION

Apply mortar in a 10 sq. ft. areas then butter back of stone and imbed Original Rock before mortar becomes too dry.  Mortar mix should be no leaner than 2-1/2 parts of mortar sand to 1 part mason cement.

Set Original Rock, treating corners & straight borders first, then working toward center, set larger pieces first, fill in spaces between with smaller pieces.  Butter backs of stone before applying to wall.

Biters or large pliers will simplify the trimming of the edges of the stone to align joints. A hatchet may also be used to trim the stone edges.

NOTE: To accent depth of stone, use wire brush to cut mortar joints back approximately 1/4".

TOOLS NEEDED:      Wheelbarrow, hoe, hock and trowel, grout bag, wire brush, gloves.

Use bag to apply mortar to fill joints.  After mortar has become firm to the touch, pack it with jointing tool, or thumb with rubber glove.  Clean face of stone and remove excess from joints with a wire brush after mortar has become firm, but is still not completely set.
